The Florida League of Middle Schools (FLMS) was founded in 1972 by Dr. Paul George of the University of Florida and visionary educators who helped shape the modern middle school. They recognized that young adolescents have unique developmental needs requiring learning environments that support academic, social, and emotional growth. FLMS serves as a professional network and leading voice for educators dedicated to excellence in grades 6–8. Through collaboration, professional learning, and advocacy, the League promotes practices that help young adolescents thrive.
